“Why y’all lying about matcha?” is what Liesl Laurie-Mthombeni wants to know about the popular drink.
“That thing is not nice. And if we can all just agree, then it can disappear,” says the former Miss South Africa in a recent TikTok post.
She adds that the reason why people are saying that it’s good is because they’ve spent money on the green tea powder and are now stuck with it.
The 34-year-old continues by saying that now you have to say that it's good and need to be a “Pilates princess.”
“Pilates princess. Ten out of ten. A matcha? No guys, it’s going to be a no from me,” she concludes.
@liesllaurie Matcha?! Y’all are lying to us 💚

Her TikTok clip reached over 150,000 viewers with 13,000 likes.
Hundreds of people rushed to the comment section to share their views on the green drink.
From the responses it’s clear that people are divided on the taste with some folk saying that they love the drink, while others agree with her and admit that it’s terrible.
While there were a few who left positive comments saying, “I’m sorry you’ll. Matcha is good,” and another commenting, “Matcha is so nice. I had to learn how to make my own Matcha because last year I spent so much money on it,” there were far more people who told the truth about the beverage.
“It literally tastes like freshly moved lawn,” said one user while another said, “It tastes like earth.”
One person simply said, “Matcha is disgusting.”
“The only green drink I’m willing to put down my throat is creme soda. The rest is fashion and peer pressure,” said one of the viewers.
Matcha has taken the health and wellness world by storm, capturing the attention of tea lovers, fitness enthusiasts, and foodies in recent years.
