The SACP has joined the war of wards over ANC provincial acting chairman Khaya Magaxa's alleged racial attack on coloured people.
Magaxa is accused of referring to coloured people as "dogs" during the party's West Coast regional conference last weekend. According to reports, the Human Rights Commission has been made aware of the incident.
"The DA in the Cape Metro Region rejects with contempt the alleged vile and racist remarks made by the Chairperson of the ANC in the Western Cape, Mr Khaya Magaxa," said Grant Twigg, DA Metro chairman.
"Deplorable but not shocking is the silence by the ANC on this despicable conduct of one of their senior provincial leaders.
"The comments by Magaxa not only exposes the racist nationalism that is rife within the ANC but also the tolerance of the governing party towards racist behaviour.
Twigg said the DA is the only party committed to building a non-racial South Africa.
"As the DA in the Cape Metro we call on Mr Magaxa to do the honourable thing and resign as member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament as it is clear he is incapable of upholding, defending and protecting the Constitution or serving all the citizens of the Western Cape."
Zuko Mndayi, SACP Western Cape spokesperson, said they were disgusted by the DA's attempt to malign the image of Magaxa, a former secretary of the communist party.
He branded the claims as lies "concocted by a known notorious pathological liar, Sammy Claassen".
Mndayi echoed a statement by ANC in the provincial legislature, which denied the claim.
Mndayi added: "Claassen is spreading lies that comrade Magaxa made inflammatory references to DA, EFF and Khoisan people during his address at the ANC West Coast regional conference over the past weekend. Having read the speech delivered by comrade Khaya, there is no such attack on the Khoisan people at all.
"What we know about Claassen is that he is an opportunist and chauvinist of note who uses the plight of the Khoisan people for narrow political gains. He now realises that his Khoisan narrow chauvinism has been exposed and he resorts to propaganda and lies. Therefore, the SACP dismisses this as a fabricated lie from a bitter individual frustrated by unfavourable conference outcomes which defeated his destructive selfish interests."
