THE school holidays are upon us and what better way to keep the kids entertained than with a three-day light festival this weekend at the Maynardville Park Garden in Wynberg.
The Glow Fest Cape Town 2025 will be taking place from Friday to Sunday and is South Africa's largest travel light festival, where you'll be captivated by breathtaking displays of light art, cultural expressions, and heritage.
From vibrant light shows to cultural celebrations and stunning illuminated art, the festival offers a sensory delight.
As dusk falls, the park transforms into a kaleidoscope of colours, featuring intricate installations and mesmerizing projections that turn everyday spaces into enchanting realms.
This year's theme highlights South Africa's rich heritage and wildlife conservation, using the festive occasion to raise awareness about endangered species that need our protection such as the Rhino and more. It's an ideal outing for lovers, kids parties, families or a night-time picnic.
The exhibition will showcase a variety of lighting themes, including wildlife, festive displays, dance floors, prehistoric exhibits, and the Glow Village, complete with interactive lighting props.
With over a million lights illuminating the area, the festival creates a breathtaking wonderland. Attendees can look forward to life-sized lanterns representing various animals, including marine creatures and birds from around the world.
Guests will have the unique opportunity to walk through a giant illuminated shark to enter the exhibition. The festival will also feature glowing statues of prehistoric dinosaurs, majestic lions, zebras, giraffes, polar bears, camels, kangaroos, and more.
Festival goers will also have a variety of delicious food stalls, vibrant markets, and live DJ performances.
Your ticket includes fun activities such as jumping castle, background music and access to markets and food stall area. Additionally, a range of family-friendly paid on activities will be available such as a photo booth, glow car ride, electric train rides, pirate ship ride and tea cup and saucer ride.
All tickets need to be purchased online on the Glow Festival website and start from as little as R50 with options including Silver, Gold, Diamond and Platinum.
