After spending more than two months behind bars Durban businessman Ferrel Govender will hear the outcome of his bail appeal application on Thursday morning when a Durban High Court Judge is expected to deliver his ruling at 9.30am.
The 41-year-old director of Pro-Secure is charged with the murder of 32-year-old uMhlanga businessman Shailen Singh.
The matter was argued in court on March 11. Judgment was reserved.
Govender did not attend court. It is unclear if he will attend today.
He is being represented by criminal advocate Mike Hellens SC, who has taken on high-profile matters that include former president Jacob Zuma and Gupta brothers.
Singh was shot multiple times while seated in his vehicle on December 29, 2024.
The father of one told his family he would be home in 15 minutes on the day of the tragedy.
His father Pradeep Singh attends every court session.
In an earlier interview with IOL he said all he wanted was justice for his son's untimely death. The State alleges that Singh was killed because he was having an affair with Ferrel's girlfriend.
The State also alleges that they have CCTV footage and eyewitnesses placing the brothers at the scene of the crime.
Darren, Ferrel's younger brother and co-accused in the matter, is on R200,000 bail with strict conditions.
Senior State advocate Krishen Shah is his arguments said the State had a strong prima facie case against Ferrel.
The matter will return to court on May 26 for further evidence.
