CONSPIRACIES Alleged underworld Kingpin Nafiz Modack

ALLEGED underworld kingpin Nafiz Modack has turned on his co-accused, claiming they conspired with former Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) boss Major-General Andre Lincoln to gather evidence against him.
Modack returned to the witness stand after a two-day break where the State continued to grill him on texts between himself and his co-accused Amaal Jantjies.
Jantjies and her former berk Janick Adonis were catapulted into the limelight in November 2019 after the duo were busted after a foiled grenade attack on Kinnear’s home, allegedly planned with Modack.
It is understood that the State contends that Modack sent Kinnear’s home address to Jantjies ahead of the grenade attack, but he denies this and instead says he sent his own address as the father of Adonis was set to collect money at his home.
As State prosecutor Greg Wolmarans explained, the voicenotes indicated that at the time of the discussion Adonis was visited by Jantjies while in the holding cells at Khayelitsha Magistrates Court.
"My bru, Moey, hoor hier, ek gaan nou ry seker hier in ‘n ten minutes, sien jy nou? Sê gou vir my wat moet nou gebeur? Moet ek dit laat vanaand gebeur of wat?,’ Adonis is heard saying describing that he is in the ‘gat’ (the holding cells).
Confusion filled the court room as Modack denied Adonis was at court, instead claiming the couple were supposedly with Lincoln at the AGU base in Faure.
Judge Robert Henney questioned Modack asking what "gat" Adonis was in.
"Lincoln se gat," Henney asked as the court room erupted in laughter.
Modack told Henney he was wys that the couple was working with Lincoln against him, saying: "They were busy with a set up."
The trial continues.
