Fish Hoek Surf Lifesaving Club was the winner at the Lifesaving Western Cape Championships held at Strand Beach on Saturday and Sunday March 15 and 16.
The event, contested by nine provincial clubs and two visiting teams, saw Fish Hoek take first place with an impressive total of 1 468 points, while the second-placed club scored 1 001 points, according to Fish Hoek Surf Club Captain Ethan Buncombe.

Mr Buncombe said the club secured a remarkable medal tally, winning 52 gold, 42 silver, and 48 bronze medals and attributed the success to the dedication and hard work of both the athletes and coaches.
Beyond the competition, the club continues to play a vital role in ensuring the safety of beachgoers on the False Bay coast while promoting the sport of lifesaving. Throughout the summer season, the club has been consistently successful, winning all local competitions and setting new standards, he said.
Mr Buncombe said the club was committed to fostering a supportive environment for its athletes and its continued focus on growth and excellence in lifesaving sport.
“The club's unwavering focus on growth and improvement has cemented its reputation as a leading force in lifesaving sport, both regionally and nationally,” he said, adding that the club looks forward to continuing its journey of excellence in both lifesaving and competitive sport.
