Reigning Miss South Africa Mia le Roux shares valuable advice with 2025 entrants.

The search is on for the next Miss South Africa, with entries for the 2025 competition officially opening today. Aspiring contestants will compete for the chance to follow in the footsteps of reigning queen Mia le Roux.
Entrant eligibility
This year, the age limit for entry has been changed, with applicants required to be at least 20 years old and under 32 years of age as of August 30.
This means that an applicant can turn 32 within her year of reign. Previously, an applicant could only turn 30 in the year of reign.
Aspiring titleholders can enter online. Entries for Miss South Africa 2025 close on Friday, April 11, at 6pm.
The competition will once again be showcased in the reality TV series “Crown Chasers”. Season 4 will include more episodes, with a post-finale reunion episode added to the lineup for the first time.
Mia le Roux’s advice
Reigning Miss South Africa Mia le Roux has some valuable advice for those considering entering the competition.
“When entering Miss South Africa, the most important thing you can do is to come in with an open heart and an open mind,” she says.
“This journey will really challenge you to explore who you are and what you stand for. And, if you embrace the journey fully, you will come out knowing yourself so much better whether you take the crown or not,” she adds
Le Roux also emphasises the importance of staying true to oneself and being authentic.
“Be prepared, know yourself, know your country, and be informed about the challenges that women face,” she advises.
Additionally, she shares that entrants must have a strong work ethic, but above all, they must be kind. She adds that if you are unsure about entering, take the leap and do it!
“Your voice has the potential to drive change, thanks to the platform you’ll have and the backing of the Miss South Africa Organisation,” says le Roux.
She also stresses that entrants don’t have to be perfect and that it’s okay not to have all the answers. “You're allowed to be human, and it’s about being at peace with who you are and being willing to learn,” she adds.
Le Roux also shares that being Miss South Africa has been beyond her expectations. “Your life changes forever, but you also get to truly change others’ lives and redefine what it means to be a powerful woman. With each new woman being crowned, the definition of a powerful woman becomes more and more encompassing,” she concludes.
